“You Are What You Eat…And What You Don’t.” Eat Vega!

We all love smoothies and protein shakes, and there are endless recipes and combinations for different blends and creative flavors for your blender. Although whole foods should be mostly eaten for good health and nutrition, protein shakes can be a great option for supplementation, additional nutrients, convenience, and a different way of hitting your nutrient, vitamin and mineral goals. Miss Strong loves starting the day early in the morning with some yoga and a run, and a fresh protein shake or smoothie (but I also eat meals and whole foods throughout the day). Since I am always on the quest for new and natural products, I was recently introduced to a wonderful shake powder….Ladies, let me present, Vega!

Okay okay okay. Let’s back up. A lot of you add some form of powder or protein powder to your shakes, right? There are an incredible number of supplements and products out there, and knowing which one to try or use can be difficult, and overwhelming. Many powders are not natural, or contain a lot of unnecessary sugars and mystery ingredients. Yuck! Miss Strong believes that you beautiful women should be adding pure, fresh and wholesome powders into smoothies and shakes. And so the quest for a wonderful tasting, reliable, filling and valuable shake powder began.

For all you health nuts out there, Miss Strong made a thrilling discovery. I was prowling the aisles of a Whole Foods and saw a big protein tub sitting silently on the shelf . VEGA One Nutritional Shake is a clean, plant-based powder packed with tons of nutrition. All ingredients in the powder are natural and derived from whole foods ingredients, so just one shake can provide you with the appropriate dosage of nutrition that your body is in need of! Vega was created by a former Ironman Triathlete and is wonderful for anyone, regardless of diet choice or allergies. Vega is proudly gluten free, soy free, and dairy free with absolutely no added sugars, colors, sweeteners or artificial flavors, and does contain 3 servings of greens, a good dose of probiotics, protein, fiber, and antioxidants. It appeals to those who eat a restricted diet (most protein powders contain Whey protein which is not Vegan) and to those who eat everything. And this is all in one glass?!

Miss Strong thought it sounded too good to be true, so we decided to find out for ourselves what the Vega one product tastes like and has to offer. We got busy in the kitchen after getting our hands on a Vega One Starter Kit (great for anyone who wants to try smaller samples of the different flavors without buying a huge tub first) and came to a simple conclusion. VEGA One is delicious, and Miss Strong approved.

IMG_6487_WEBFlavors offered are French Vanilla, Berry and Chocolate. The powder is incredibly versatile, so you can either mix it in a blender bottle with water/coconut water or your favorite beverage, or mix it in a blender with your choice of ingredients. Vega includes a recipe booklet of delicious combinations in the Starter Kit, so Miss Strong decided to be bold and experiment with some extra added ingredients!

We blended the Vega One Chocolate powder with 1 banana, 1 tablespoon almond butter, ½ cup of blueberries, ¼ cup raspberries, 1 cup almond milk, a pinch of cinnamon, ice, and a small handful of spinach as the recipe book recommended. Good. Morninggg!

Lastly, and equally important as having a wonderful taste, the VEGA company possesses wonderful values that Miss Strong supports and admires. The health and wellness of every single woman and Miss Strong reader is important, and VEGA is a company that highly prioritizes an overall healthy and balanced, happy lifestyle. Vega combines whole foods and the value of nutrient dense foods into a powder, instead of providing a powder that is crammed with weird ingredients that cannot be found in our natural world. Vega states that “nutrient density is more important than calories” and “what you eat should provide energy, not drain it.” Vega supports national events like the Tough Mudder race and San Francisco Green Festival, and Miss Strong supports Vega!

  1. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your content seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with
browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know.
The layout look great though! Hope you get the
    problem resolved soon. Kudos
